The Hundertwasser Spring into Racing – Art in Action race day on 10th September combines fashion with racing and art. This will be the 10th year the Steve Haywood Master Jeweller Fashion in the Field competition has been held at the Ruakaka races. There are great prize packages with categories for children, teens, men and women. Entry to the competition is free and contestants can register up until 1pm on the day.

The Supreme Award winner, selected from the winners of the three adult categories, not only takes home a fabulous prize voucher from Steve Haywood Master Jeweller, but also gains entry to the national final of the “Viva Prix de Fashion” at Ellerslie race course in March 2017.

In keeping with the Hundertwasser theme, a special prize will be awarded to the wearer of the best outfit “Inspired by Hundertwasser”, and will be selected from all contestants across all categories.

Artist Carolyn Radford suggests “Hundertwasser inspired” design could be vibrant colour and pattern combined with natural lines, sustainable and/or recycled materials. Any of Hundertwasser’s themes (and there are many in his artwork) would be interesting conceptually. For example a play on his faces would be interesting in a crowd situation. For more ideas take a look at Malletts on Bank St, where the window display has a Hundertwasser fashion flavour.
