Trust us to take care of your fur babies

In 2014, Kath Dean bought a quiet little grooming business in Kamo. Her dream was to be self-employed and be able to have her dogs at work with her everyday

That was under 2 years ago, now Kath and her Husband Max have moved the business to a much larger commercial property – (still in Kamo), and employ 5 full time Team members to run a very busy, grooming centre, Shop, K9 Kindy and Training centre.

“It has been an amazing journey” says Kath “I would never have thought in a million years that I would be building a purpose built K9 centre, or employing 5 other people who love dogs as much as me”

Kath has a passion for customer service and credits her success to building a rapport with her clients (two legged ones) “There are many options in Northland for grooming, dog accessories and daycare centres” explains Kath, “I am always grateful that someone chooses my shop to come to. And I want them to know that, I also know that it would be very hard for me to leave my dogs in someone else’s care, So I need pet owners to be assured that their dogs will be fine, and that they trust me to take care of their fur babies. I feel very special that these people choose my business.

Klipped K9 Centre in Springs Flat Road, Kamo is an open centre. It has been designed to care for up to 150 dogs daily, with play-yards catering for different sizes and ages. Each yard is fully supervised and has access to grass, bark, beds and water features “We welcome people to come and look around our centre, we love showing off our happy dogs and facilities. Anyone should be able to see their dogs interacting with other dogs and people. It is also good for the dogs to see people coming and going” Kath says. Bookings are not necessary for the K9 Kindy, If you don’t want your dog to be home on any given day – bring them in to Klipped, they are welcome any day.

With three groomers at present on site everyday klipped has become a busy salon for dogs. One of the benefits of grooming at Klipped is that the pooches can stay all day for free, Kath explains. “We have tried to keep things simple for busy dog owners, you can drop your pup off in the morning on the way to work and collect on the way home completely groomed and exhausted from playing during the day. No rushing around to pick your dog up on time. We love this arrangement as it gives the dogs a break throughout the grooming process, and they get to socialise”. Of course if they are not happy to be with other dogs, Klipped has facilities for them to have their own space until mum or dad comes to collect them.

All the fun of the day features on Klipped’s facebook page. “There is no better evidence than photos of your pup having a fun time when they visit us. We don’t have flashy websites, we want people to come and see for them self how amazing this centre is.“
